Our aim is to choose hymns that reflect the theme of the Mass through the Scriptures. We do have music practices as and when we need them. We would always welcome new members to sing, play or assist in choosing the music. We are always looking to grow our group, come along!
Parish Office Volunteers

However, the Pandemic has greatly hindered returning volunteers returning. If you have any free time to help, please get in touch.
Pantomime Group
Every January, for the past twenty-eight years St Joseph’s has staged a Pantomime. Not just any old Panto but the St Joseph’s Parish Panto! Across the years, many people – aged from 11 years to 70+, individuals, families, even the occasional Parish Priest have been involved! Weekly rehearsals start in September, parts are cast, scripts are tweaked, and songs are learned along the way, up to January when with a flurry of activity, we take over the part of the club. Actors are put through their paces on the stage, set builders to work through the weekends and evenings building stages, designing backdrops and moving furniture out and chairs in. The costume department design and make out wonderful costumes... As the Panto draws closer, props are sorted, continuity planned, and a prompt is requisitioned. Musicians under our Musical director put us through our paces, synchronising with our choreographer. The final touch comes with the technical input from our sound and lighting technicians. The make-up artists come along to make sure everyone on stage looks their best. Ice creams are purchased, tickets printed and sold, programmes designed and printed, and raffle prizes sorted for the six performances. Whew!
Over the years Team Panto has become a family. Some people come and go, many return year after year. Several families have been involved, with parents initially taking part and then they have been followed by their children. It has also worked the other way too, with children being involved and they then drew in their parents. It has been gratifying to see the young people involved with Panto move on to careers on the stage and in media. We are proud that in some small way we may have contributed to their career choices. St Joseph’s has been a thriving part of our Parish Community. Unfortunately, this year because of circumstances beyond our control we have not been able to stage a Panto. Celebrating 30 years 2023!
